What impact has Career Services had in your life?
Career Services has significantly impacted my life by providing highly beneficial guidance, tools, and collaboration opportunities. As a former Career Ambassador, I have gained experience in event planning, teamwork, communication, and leadership. The department has helped me to revamp my professional profile, improve interview skills, and explore career paths. It has given me a chance, even though l had zero experience, and it has opened so many opportunities for me and enhanced my employability.

I would gladly recommend Career Services to other students, because it provides the following: career guidance on choosing a suitable career path, résumé building and interview prep, enabling students to improve their chances of landing their dream job. It also organises career fairs, industry events, and alumni networking sessions, allowing students to connect with professionals in their desired field.

I am currently working as an Intern in the office of the Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences.

What do you wish you had done at university that would have assisted you more in your job today?
I wish I had developed stronger networking skills and connections, improved my public speaking skills, and explored entrepreneurship, innovation, or creative problem-solving.

Consider factors such as job type (full time, internship, part time), industry, company size, and work environment. Update your LinkedIn profile and online presence to showcase your professional brand.

Network and build connections- Attend career fairs, industry events, and networking sessions to connect with professionals in your desired field. Leverage social media platforms such as LinkedIn to expand your network and engage with potential employers. Do not underestimate the power of informational interviews or coffee chats to gain insights and advice from experienced professionals.
