I wish I had been more intentional about planning my career path and paid closer attention to the skills and experiences I gained along the way. University is such a foundational time – the exposure you get, the small tasks you take on, and the skills you build – all shape who you become in the workplace. .

What top three tips do you have for students and graduates entering job hunting season now?

Top three tips I can give to students and graduates entering the job-hunting season:
  • Firstly, don’t settle for mediocrity – not from anyone or anything, especially not from yourself. Be proactive and give your best effort, even in the smallest roles, such as volunteering. This builds character, integrity, and work ethic, which are far more valuable than people realize.
  • Secondly, make the most of the resources available to you, especially Career Services. They are there to help you succeed – use them.
  • Thirdly, stay open to growth. Your path may not always be linear, but every experience can teach you something if you let it.
